Beautiful Chaos

India had always been a dream of mine, God made it a reality. I have never in my life seen such a rich culture, the people, the clothes, the way of life, the hospitality and the food. Yum, the food!!! I remember day one in India when we meet our contact, he opens the door to the van we will be riding in and there is a large pot full of food. He makes us a plate, and even before we have the chance to take a bit he says "EAT MORE" and throws more food on our plates. This is the very beginning of what became an Indian food obsession.

On our way to our first location, we weave through traffic that seems to have absolutely no rules. I feel like I should be terrified but our driver seems to be very good at what he is doing, so I put my trust in him.

When we arrive our contact was ready to start our ministry. He was the most passionate, fired up, 5ft tall Christian I'd ever met! It was clear that we would be doing a ton of ministry here. Our main ministry was village and house visits, which just so happens to be my favorite! It is so special to be invited into someone's home whom you have never met before, having completely different religions and be treated like family every time. During this time we would share the Gospel and daily we would see whole villages wanting to know the Lord.

My absolute favorite day of ministry in India was going to the leprosy colonies. We were able to show love to people who are outcasted and abandoned. This was a time that redeemed the brokenness I had in my heart from Nepal. We spent hours just loving and sharing stories with these beautiful people. Until this moment I didn't know that it was possible to be so happy in such incredible hardship. God is the only one that is able to give that kind of beautiful happiness!!!! It was the hardest thing to leave these people knowing that I would never see them again...

This was the sweetest woman, she would grab our faces and then wipe her hands on her face. Other than giving her love and sharing stories, she humbly asked us for one thing, just 10 cents so that she could buy tea to enjoy. This made me smile and broke my heart. I wanted desperately to do more for these people, but what could I do? The people we met in India have never left my heart, and probably never will. I hope and pray they are doing well and ask God that I can one day return to see their smiles again.

We have many more stories from India, and could talk about our time there for forever. So, if you ever want to know more, just let us know, we'd love to hear from you!
